Justin Chapman is an award-winning journalist, author, travel writer, actor, poet, musician, politician, and dual U.S.-Irish citizen. He serves as the District 6 Council Liaison/Field Representative for Pasadena Vice Mayor Steve Madison. He previously served as the Digital Content Writer & Editor at Michelson Philanthropies and the Communications Officer at the Pacific Council on International Policy.

Justin was the youngest elected official in LA County as a member of the Altadena Town Council at age 19. He graduated from UC Berkeley in 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications/Media Studies and from USC in 2018 with a Master's degree in Public Diplomacy. At USC, he served as editor-in-chief and design/layout editor of Public Diplomacy Magazine and as staff writer at the Daily Trojan.

He has written hundreds of articles for two dozen print and digital publications, including KPCC/LAistAlta Journal, Huffington Post, LA Weekly, Berkeley Political Review, Pasadena Weekly, Pasadena Now, and many others. At the 2022 LA Press Club's Southern California Journalism Awards, he won two 1st place awards in the Music/Arts Feature and Culture News categories, a 3rd place award in the Entertainment News/Feature category, and two finalist spots in the TV Talk/Public Affairs and Anchor/Host categories. At the 2021 LA Press Club awards, he won 1st place in the Travel Reporting category, 3rd place in the TV/Public Affairs category, and 3rd place in the Entertainment Features category. At the 2020 LA Press Club awards, he won 2nd place in the Hard News category and 3rd place in the Obituary/In Appreciation category. His book about his travels across Africa, Saturnalia: Traveling from Cape Town to Kampala in Search of an African Utopia, was published by Rare Bird Books in 2015.

He is the writer, host, producer, and editor of the show "Well Read with Justin Chapman," and the writer, host, and producer of Pasadena Media's flagship TV news talk show "Pasadena Monthly with Justin Chapman," previously known as "NewsRap Local with Justin Chapman," for which he won the 3rd place award from the LA Press Club in the TV/Public Affairs category in 2021. "NewsRap Local" also won 2nd place in the News Programming (Community Producer) category and was a finalist in the News Programming (Professional) category at the Alliance for Community Media West’s W.A.V.E. Awards (Western Access Video Excellence).
 
He served on Pasadena Media's Citizens Advisory Committee and is a member of the Los Angeles Press Club and the Sacramento Press Club. He also served as president of Men Educating Men About Health, as secretary of the West Pasadena Residents' Association, as secretary of the ACLU SoCal Pasadena/Foothills chapter board, and as a member of the United Nations Association Pasadena chapter's Communications Committee.

As a professional child actor, he performed in dozens of commercials, television shows, plays, and movies. He is also a golfer, snowboarder, skateboarder, and soccer player. He lives in Altadena, California.
